Description
Wolves are thought to be a menace and threat to humans. They have had their natural habitat taken over and are forced to live in confined territories. Two wolves types, Mexican Gray Wolves and Red wolves are already extinct in the wild and are being bred in captivity for reintroduciton puposes. The Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, New York is a not-for-profit enviromental educational facility that uses Atka, Arctic Grey Wolf, as their ambassador for educational purposes to raise awareness and money. I photographed Atka at Spirit Gallery in New London, Ct. He was actually yawning when I took this shot, as he is completely docile though allowed to be his true wolf self. No petting or word commands are used. Half the proceeds from this painting will go to the Wolf Center. www. nywolf.org
